The USA/Korea free trade deal will proceed to congress shortly. Our government is still sticking to its position that this agreement will cause a net gain of jobs in the USA.
Sadly, they have not come forward with any facts to back up that position.
More soundly the Economic Policy Institute has issued data indicating 159,000 American jobs will be lost if this deal is approved. They also show this agreement would, far from the government position that would reduce trade deficit; this agreement would actually increase our trade deficit by $16.7 billion.
It is time to stop approving these deals unless they can prove that there is actual net gain in both the number and quality of jobs.
