New reports indicate China’s Defense Ministry, working with their Education Ministry, as built the world’s fastest supercomputer.

The new machine is reported to outperform the fastest American computer by 40%.

No word on the intended usage of the new device. Obviously their Ministry of Defense would be utilizing such a powerful computer for military purposes. China has been very rapidly upgrading their military capability.

This effort underlines China’s efforts to exceed the USA.
Buying imported products from China supports their efforts.

Pakistan Gets Billions in Aid, Yet Supports Taliban

October 21st, 2010

It is very well documented that elements Pakistan’s military intelligence organization, roughly like our CIA, supports the Taliban, our enemy, in Afghanistan.

Officially, Pakistan denies supporting the Taliban, but that either means they truly do not control their own intelligence service or they are lying.

Our troops fight the Taliban everyday in Afghanistan, yet our supposed ally, Pakistan supports them with cash, resources, a haven, and likely arms too.

It gets more ironic, as we give Pakistan over $3,100,000,000 annually in military and humanitarian aid, excluding recent flood aid. That is $1.6 billion in military aid and $1.5 billion in humanitarian aid, yet they refuse to cut off support for the Taliban.

Pakistan plays a game with Washington – Give us more and more money and we will pretend to listen. For twice the money, we will even pretend to act.

Sadly, Washington gives into their act again and again. It seems clear now that tacit support of the Taliban is an extremely lucrative business for Pakistan. They pretend to be willing to act and we shovel more and more money at them. That must end.

We need to remove aid for Pakistan until the Taliban support is ended in all forms.

We have been played the fool long enough.

New Crash Test Standards Hit Toyota & Nissan

October 8th, 2010

The US Transportation Department recently made crash test standards tougher and more realistic. Results were just released.

Some imported models that had scored very well in the past now score much worse. For example, the Toyota Camry and Nissan Versa both dropped from five stars to just three stars for their 2011 models in the key frontal crash ratings.

The Subaru Outback, Honda Pilot, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Ford Taurus all dropped from five stars to four in the same test. The Chevrolet Tahoe remained at five stars.

Why the sharp drop off for Toyota and Nissan? It could be these automakers were engineering their cars to do well on this specific test, rather than be actually safer in real life conditions.

It is important that folks buying cars be aware of the new crash test results for their and their family’s safety.

In many cases, the American-Made vehicles are a better choice from this important perspective.
